Re "what do I think":

a) you can't win
b) you can't break even
c) you can't quit this game

I am sad for my kids and all those coming after them. But then, I am just like MY parents, who were also sad for all those things that were disappearing. For instance I still remember how blue the skies were. They're not anymore, not here at least- but hey, Munich airport is breaking all kinds of records. And, er, I got used to it and the kids are used to it from birth anyhow. Take a bedouin: there's nothing more beautiful for him than a desert.

Of course, what will be decisive for our/their reactions and impressions, when it hits, is the RATE of change.

I read the article but didn't see anything to back up the "point of no return" claim. If indeed global warming is being created by increased CO2 levels from burning fossil fuels, then we can expect it to track the use of oil, which according to all accounts is going to peak then decline. OK, we have to include gas and coal, but the principle is the same. There will be a return.
