KLP, I guess I lucked out. When I left my long-time employer for the joys and easy life of self-employment, I availed myself of COBRA for as long as it lasted. I then joined my local Chamber of Commerce and got on their group plan. My cost for that group plan, which was excellent and virtually all-encompassing, was marginally higher than what I had paid for the COBRA coverage. Of course, I am talking the late 1980s to late 1990s, so my course of action may no longer be a viable option. And I know that there is coverage and then there is coverage. <g>

I am now back in the carefree world of the employed but have not yet had occasion to test my employer's provided insurance coverage. By no means is this to be construed as a complaint. - Holly
