Muslims in Europe vote, just as do Mexicans in the U.S. They may not be parliamentarians or senators, but they can ensure a candidate doesn't win. That gives them people power. Poor or not. I think you are loopy for thinking a large, growing minority can be ignored. No good leader would ignore the changing demographics of his country.
