CB, one of my pet peeves is the corruption of the language, particularly in the medical arena. "Ethnic" and "culture" seem to have largely replaced the more definitive word, "race."

Why don't we come right out and ask them their race? We do if it could be a factor in their care. That said, many do not speak or understand sufficient English to make this or any other verbal communication possible. - Holly
