Mq,

the 'ring of fire' refers to an earthquake activity ring that encircles the Pacific, including NZ, CA and Japan.

If less ice at at the top of the ring, say Alaska, caused earthquakes there, why wouldn't plate tectonic dictate that the resultant shift in pressure in one part of the ring not cause a 'rerranging ofall plates', requiring more earthquakes?
