I did. And so did a couple of friends who attended the game.
They saw first hand what I saw every time they showed the
Patriots on the sideline.

"I did see them waving some towels back at the fans."

FWIW, that was what got out of hand. Some players did it
nonstop from the middle of the 2nd quarter until after the
game ended. The Terrible Towel is well known by any team that
has been to a game in Pittsburgh in the last 20+ years.
Steeler fans by the tens of thousands love to wave the
Terrible Towel to cheer on the Steelers.

Two hours of intentionally waving white towels (by
Professional athletes while on the job) at Steeler fans is
not professional behavior in my book.

"Luck is not a factor."

Sometimes luck determines who wins in the NFL.
