Again, 1M Smithfields per year is a micro-product for Intel, and would not require a response from AMD. You can't have it both ways. If it is enough to cause AMD to need to respond in 2005, it is more than enough to affect Intel's huge single-core business in 2005.

I agree 1M or even 2M Smithfields is about the right number for Intel in 2H2005 from a desktop demand standpoint. But IMO, pricing the 2.8 and 3.0 at $314 and $240 will marginalize demand for 3.6 and 3.8 GHz P4s. I personally would rather have a Smithfield dual 3.0 than a 3.8 GHz P4.
