Ok, but I disagree with your example. First, because the topic is torture in general. In general we do not have information as you presented, instead we are doing exploratory work. In the example you gave, we need to remove a finger from a button, which places our enemy in an active role not one of being subdued. I don't think the example is a real, typical, or a fair test of the principle. You admitted in an earlier post that you are willing to use a disagreeable means to achieve what you view as a good end. I don't believe the principle holds up.
