By attacking Iran, the US-Israeli bully would trespass a critical threshold --from India's and especially China's viewpoint. I don't mean that either China or India will do everything to rescue Iran --neither is a Muslim country-- but they can raise the price the US will have to pay for the fall of Iran.... Otherwise, what will remain of China's credibility regarding Taiwan? North Korea? Tibet? East Asia as a whole? If Iran gets crushed like Iraq, Serbia,... and nothing happens then what's the world we'll be living in? We would enter a new colonial era --a global colony under the American yoke. I'm afraid that doesn't fit in with China's agenda. A world made up of one so-called hyperpower that will rely increasingly on its military muscle to get its way, namely the US; of a European nexus, that is but the fat, guileful, castrated partner of the former; of Russia, a hopeless powder keg; and of demographic heavyweights that are nothing but wimpy anthills, namely, China, India, Indonesia, Brazil,... So, I agree with you: Iran on her own is but a pathetic braggart who'll get blown to smithereens by the US behemoth. But the snag is that too many countries --including China-- will make it painful for the US to sweep its way to the top... Somehow, the eventual humiliation of Iran will spill over China as well... It might fit the Europeans to play the tireless, caring yet ineffectual kibitzers alongside American thugs --they're not the ones who'll get bombed (yet), after all... but China is sort of East Asia's Iran, that is, a geopolitical challenger to US supremacy. If Iran falls for too small a price, I expect a military shakeup in China, if only because, in four years from now, George W Bush will be out and replaced by... who? Mother Theresa? a former general perhaps? Gen Tommy Franks? 911-hero Giuliani? The political situation in the US might still go from bad to worse... Hence my WWIII qualms. Gus

On Monday night, she was in Jerusalem to attend the 11th annual Temple Mount dinner and to help speed up the construction of the third temple. Close to 1,000 right-wing religious activists converged on the Jerusalem International Convention Center to celebrate Tu Bishvat and listen to speakers on various topics – ranging from what the economy will be like in the time of the third temple to what type of government is ideal according to the Torah. "The temple is part of our history," Benny-Davis, who sponsored the festivities, told The Jerusalem Post. "When I argue with people who criticize us that we are occupying another nation, I explain to them that the land has been ours for thousands of years. Just look at the Temple Mount" ...
