IF $150,000 and/or a commitment to the cause isn't enough to attract the soldiers we need, we either have to up the ante or adjust our course. Putting a gun to kids heads to force them to take a gun in their hands is not an option in my opinion.

Here's one thing Mr Bush could do. Go on TV and ask 18-25 year olds to sign up. Explain the need, and why they should consider it their duty and see if they respond. So far all he has said is that he's completely satisfied with the volunteer army. Why shouldn't 18-25 year olds take him at his word and assume that the country can get along fine without their personal sacrifices.
