OK. Your example is dealing with some pinhead manager who proves the Peter principal. Whoever that person is if they weren't government they would be unemployed as that request could have been met so easily you wouldn't even break a sweat. Well at least anyone that isn't an incompetent pinhead wouldn't have broken a sweat.

But the idea of having to give people extra breaks to pray to the sun god's I find a little galling. But perhaps your right it's something a jury should settle.

I wonder how their religion can be that important to them working around all of that ground pork?

The same thing would be she would, during her
work, stop during her processing and engage
in her religion. Not wanting another position
in doing so-- is that fair? That's what the
story seems to indicate.

It's been my experience that dealing with any public entity at any level on employment issues is like trying to change the course of a cruise ship.

The only way to get anything done is to file suit.
Then someone has to handle the problem.

Until then, no one will step up and address it.

EEOC found in her favor, but they wouldn't budge. So she hired me, I filed suit, and when the local US attorney got a look at the case, he got them turned around immediately. Took less than a week. Well, he did take her deposition first. She came across really well. A jury would have loved her. So, less than a week after her deposition, they settled the case.

Promise this will be my last query on this subject since it
is not on topic (but a great political football):
What was the outcome of the case -- Did she have Sunday's off?
And new rules put in place for other's to follow?
What was the criteria of BECOMING a devout Christian when she
wasn't one before and having that job before/after the change?

I am fascinated by this and you know the answer. Thank you.

I heard an interview with the owner of the plant today. These people were offered a position at a different station where there would be a minimum of disruption and team work wasn't involved. Would that be considered "reasonable?"

And what in the heck are Muslims doing working in a sausage factory? Oberto uses allot of pork in their products. Maybe it isn't against their religion to touch pork?

Maybe they are trying to make a quick buck off the back of their employer, and they found a lawyer that wants to accommodate them?
