But, hey, we could always let those illegal aliens rushing in with the tacit blessing of the Administration do it. The North did it with the Irish coming off the boats during the Civil War and when I was in the service, it was Filipinos living in the Philippines. No papers? Here's the military induction, giving the immigrant a path to citizenship. That sounds a lot like the French Foreign Legion when they were colonial. But clearly, it prevents a draft and would no doubt be more popular as long as it was kept relatively quiet like it is now. For me, dead soldiers are soldiers, even if they are citizens-in-waiting, and is also intrinsically a bad thing, especially when the benefit is so tenuous Even under the current limited theatre scenario it will be difficult to maintain the required troop strengths without doing something else beyond what we are doing. Morale is so low that all these reservist weekend-warriors pressed into multiple tours of service will be reluctant to re-up. That clock is 24 months from the start of their deployment. A fact. There is plenty of meat in this post to provide points of courteous rational discussion with me or someone else if that's what you want. Based upon past experience, though, I suspect you will respond with self-referenced opinion or, alternatively, nit pick a point of phraseology or purported argumentation fallacy constructs that I didn't even use. If you do that again, then I have to assume it is a waste to post to you.
