That makes it an interesting place to go to compare notes and debate what is or isn't factually correct, not an encyclopedia. Perhaps on the more popular topics, like the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, there may be enough objective eyes scrutinizing what's written there that one could have a reasonable expectation of factual accuracy. But one could hardly generalize that to the majority, much less all, of what's written there. The blogosphere is great at exposing lies, but it is also very good at creating and spreading them.

PS: Re "I was being empathetic", you could use more practice. The whole notion of labeling someone a "conservative" and suggesting that, because they are one, that makes them resistent to or afraid of new ideas is not empathy. It is stereotyping. It is condescending. It is intellectually lazy. But it is not empathy.

Conservatives are, well, conservative about new things.

Most liberals that I know are still living in the 60s. They are totally closed minded about the reality of how the world has changed over the past several decades, want to restrict what children can hear or say in school, reject facts and statistics that contradict their pre-concieved views on the environment and social sciences, and promote programs that have failed for decades.
