It's a twist on the Batman defense (i.e. I was just a Caped Crusader) - it's the "naive Batman" schtick, Tony was so obsessed with doing good for all the boys and girls in Gotham that he was taken in by an evil deceiver and tricked into doing wrong, when he only meant to do right.

Of course, the jury already shot down the Batman defense, so this is just irrelevant chit-chat.
