FYI Teddy was in the senate during Vietnam war. If you can get over your Lindy Bill toadiness, you will recognized kennedy as a great senator with a differnt pov. Not everyone has to agree with yours or mine pov in order to be a great senator. I do not doubt teddy's sincerity and there is much common sense in his iraq pov. The strength of the insurgency is in direct proportion to US activity in iraq which is seen as an occupation of sorts. Less occupation, more self rule, less insurgency. More or less true. What Kennedy forgets however is that the US forces at this time stand between iraq and the abyss. Post elections US can start backing off in the triangle and hopefully iraqis will rise to the occasion in 2005. American casualties need to decline to maintain support here and to move them out of the occupier role many iraqis think to be our policy. Is Lindy Bill still waiting for flowers?
