JF, The currency issue is anything but minor. To clarify, I was speaking in relative terms. Fundamental is the notion that China as a growing superpower will become hostile to us and begin a new Cold War just because they're losing faith in the dollar. But as for the dollar itself, I agree that China's move isn't a good sign no matter how you slice it. Bush said he wanted to reform the tax code. Well Bush, let's hear it, given that you have no "political capital" available to force spending cuts. Tenchusatsu
