You can ignore or be ignorant any time you please -- and you seem well pleased on the consequences of torture. Torture, like terrorism, is not something to be "excused". Nor is it something that promotes peace and security. Your notion that torture can be ok sometimes because it can "save lives" is purile horse manure. What you do is stretch to find some excuse that allows torture in the back door, not recognizing that you have stripped us of one of the few things that sets us apart from the brutal dictatorships that we seek to bring into the fold of the civilized world. Give up your values, your principles and you have stripped yourself of your humanity and your dignity -- the qualities that make life worth living. The qualities that allow us, from time to time, to say we have something to offer the world by way of leadership.
