I would think the Kurds would take advantage of it to break away from Iraq- if I were a Kurdish leader, that's what I'd be thinking. If you look at breakaway republics, that's what they do- exploit weakness of the centralized government, when it presents itself.

I have no idea what the Shiites will do to the Kurds when they break away (if they do) because I don't know what kind of resources they (the Shiites) will have. If they are completely focused on the Suni conflict, then I think the Kurds have a shot at breaking away, and Turkey is going to have a real headache on its hands, if that happens. JMO

So much for a more stable ME if that happens.
