In December 1999 that was not unusual. And what I guess you are calling "calls" are stock trades to consider as was spelled out in the log. Again, each client (trader) can choose to ignore or pursue a suggestion. Also, "scalping" can be more than 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8 (back in those days). Scalping an 18 point range can mean going for 4,5, 6, ... points then reversing and going the opposite (long to short or vice versa). Trust me, plenty of traders made a good living doing just this.
