It's not European PC but a core value of the French in existence for a very long time. It's a cornerstone of separation between state and church. It is a value which radicalized European Muslims must learn to live with, much like their imposition of their values and mores on Christian oil workers in Saudi Arabia. They need to know that different rules prevail across the border, and that they must bend to them. If it bothers them, they should not emigrate.
