Jims. <HUGE, indeed...."india and china" - the leveraged play on the US consumer...makes me a bit nervous...Gives me an urge to raise some cash....>

That's one of the most important reasons my portfolio allocation to cash has been higher than normal since the end of last year.

The global economy is on thin ice and the US recovery is slowing more quickly than most expected. Europe is ahead of us in the slowing process and is probably entering a recessionary period. Who is Asia going to sell all their stuff to??!!

I'm way ahead YTD, and frankly? Don't want to give back those profits because I got caught holding the bag with a bunch of stocks.

If we had a powerful uptrend in one of our fav equity sectors? That would be a different story. But we don't.

Risk/reward just isn't there for me to feel compelled to sit with more than a few stocks, right now.

If that changes, then I'll get more aggressive on the buy side.

Yea it caught my attention to. It's not a new concept per say, but the way it's worded makes you stop and think about it. Have pretty high cash reserves already. Everything could get hit in a global economic downturn, but I would guess we'd see a syncronous global CB "easing" prior to that in a desperate attempt to ward off the inevitable. In that environment gold should fly...should.
