Bear,

The US has 2,124,164 men reaching service age each year. Thats 4,248,328 in National service at one time and thats just the men.

If we do all our kids that will be about 9 million in some form of service.

What would we do with them all?

John

Don't know about a 2 year service, but have always thought that a 6-12 months service of some type would be an advantage to the young person, and a help to their country.

It probably won't happen. People either want to help others, or they don't. Still debating with myself if it should be a mandatory service. I'm leaning to not mandatory.

But then again, I don't think we should have welfare for very many people either. Of course, there are exceptions (blind single woman with young children for example)....but generally, I think people should be given a hand up, not a permanent hand out.
