CB, I think that the word "war" has been used the wrong way in recent decades. War is supposed to mean two, or more, nations using their military forces to defeat the other faction in combat.

There was no cold "war". There was a build up of weapons, and intelligence, causing tension, in case the time came for a real war to be fought. The combatants are supposed to be clad in the uniforms of their nations, but with terrorist groups, that has gone out the window.

There can be no "war" on poverty. Who would we attack in such a war. What we have, is an increased effort to feed, and shelter, our citizens, but that doesn't seem to be going very well either.

I wonder if the word "war" is being used in an attempt to make whatever situation being faced, appear to be more evil than it really is. It sounds like sensationalism to me.
