Far cheaper to pay just the enlisted men we actually need $30K to start, and by that I mean cash, not counting the benefits.

I am not opposed to paying more. I am just not convinced that it will solve a recruiting problem.

How much would the military have to pay before you would advise your sons to enlist to go fight a war as an Infantryman? Is $30,000 the magic number for your family?

Yet, I concede you might have a point. We are the most advanced country on earth. We should be able to buy our freedom. We just have to determine the right price.

Lots of Palestinian kids have been willing to die for $25,000 and 72 virgins. Perhaps DOD should try that offer.
