Hi m,

I'm in a "global" company right now. It is sad to say that our products have been transferred to other labor centers. This was largely done by knee-jerk ("everyone else is doing it!") mentalities and hasn't panned out all that well. In yesterday's meeting I'd proposed taking production from one of the international locations and moving here to California. That's viable financially, but politically very difficult.

They actually ended up penalizing people that worked on transfer projects because management regrets it. It didn't make as much money as was expected so those people who worked their butt off (like me) didn't get to mention that in our review lest we be tar and feathered for doing what we were told to do. Fortunately, I had other initiatives that were more political to put my hopes in.

We also spent a great deal of time teaching the Asian company we partnered with how to build devices for our regulated market here in the US. We personally oversaw the construction of their quality system. That was incredibly stupid and I actually insisted a director level person personally approve what I was giving them because I felt it was part of our competitive edge.

We should all be shocked at what is happening.
