I think your statement about Libs is way out of line as well as far from being the TRUTH.

What you do is suggest that the so called LIBS would be against our Country. What I experience is that they are for the right to disagree, the right to look at perceived and alleged FACTS differently.. Thank heavens for those who would differ from you. Thank God we live in a Country where there can be debate

In no way whatsoever do I see them being UnAMERICAN.. They wish as anyone would that everything would turn out right for not only Iraq but more importantly for this Country..

For you to suggest otherwise shows a great deal of prejudice on your part.

You evidently see things from only ONE perspective and one point of view and God forbid anyone disagree with you and you have them compartmentalized...

I for one hope that the elections are valid and there are fewer deaths perpetrated because of it.

Taro,

You are certainly entitled to speak for yourself, but you are ludicrous when you attempt to speak for progressives.

You say: our Libs, who have been watching this like spectators of a football match, secretly hoping for their own country to come out as losers

Rubbish. We don't want to be victims of George Bush's fast-and-loose fiscal irresponsibility granting huge corrupt profits to the likes of Halliburton, Bechtel, Custer-Battles and the other odious contractors who are picking at Iraq's carcass like a flock of vultures. We want honest and decent Americans to win. Not the band of rapists that Bush has turned loose on the Iraqi public and the American taxpayer. What is it about corruption that you fail to understand?

***
Then you dig yourself a bigger hole by trotting out one of the most tired of cliches: this is a case where political orientation counts more than their loyalty towards their own country.

What has loyalty to country got to do with refusing to go along with a criminal invasion of another nation for the sake of lining the pockets of a handful of bribers?

My gosh you have a warped view of what America ought to be about. Don't you have any sense of decency whatsoever? Bush is criminal, so are the people he is rewarding as he engages in an otherwise pointless slaughter in Iraq.

Bush is utterly and totally un-American. And the notion that he's doing God's work is completely beyond the pale. We are in a world of hurt in this nation, rapidly descending into a fascist and bankrupt hell.

Yes, kind of sad actually. Americans claiming to want what's right for Iraqis, but hoping for what's worst just because they don't like Bush.

Of course our Libs, who have been watching this like spectators of a football match, secretly hoping for their own country to come out as losers while betting on the bad guys to prove them right, may feel lousy about this. I mean, this is a case where political orientation counts more than their loyalty towards their own country.

I am afraid you don't understand the nature of Americans, liberal or conservative. We have been suckled at the twin thrones of freedom and democracy. I wish only good things for the Iraqis. If this vote today causes a fire to burn within them and they start to fight for their democracy, then there will be no one happier. That does not change the fact that we Americans have paid a significant price for their freedom.

And, sir, don't ever question my loyalty to my country again! How dare you!
