I think the problem for Jews in the Middle East starts when Arabs get their own independence from the Ottoman empire in ~1920, and then 27 years later the UN declares Israel an independent (Jewish) country located smack in the middle of Arabia, and largely populated by recent Jewish immigrants. You're going to call that history "the British meddling in their affairs"?
