Even US libs are happy with the exception of a few here on SI who have had their myths shattered yesterday. The internationslists of both american parties have the belief in democracy at their core. Wilsonians in the Dem party and the Neocons in the Republican both drink the same Kool-Aid but just dont realize it. At times the Wilsonians got way ahead of themselves and the Neocons may have as well. But all love a good outcome whether in Ukraine or Iraq. One of the happiest guys today must be Jimmy Carter, no doubt. You didnt have to be for the war to be impressed by what happened yesterday. It is the end of the beginning phase for Iraq. Next step, tough iraqis taking back the streets. We can have that torture argument all over again when Zarquawis head is delivered to Baghdad on a stick by Iraqi forces. GST can get all frazzled over that one.
Trouble with wilsonians and neocons is that former often lets its ideals get ahead of the realities on the ground and the latter gets consumed with its own optimism which becomes an arrogance of power, inability to manage events and an inability to tell the truth. But even overshoooting by the twin idealists cannot kill freedom and democracy which are universal desires of mankind. Man am i rambling today or what? mike

I thought I had learned that AP, BBC and Reuters are part of the evil, Bush-hating, always-negative "MSM" <g>?

Even they have been shamed by the courage of the Iraqi people into remembering that democracy is a good thing.

They'll revert to normal form soon, doubtless.

Basically they are. Which might mean the reality was even more impressive than reported.
