I agree many of the clips available online are not the best quality. One thing I've been meaning to do for a long time is pick up a copy of the Naudet video. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days.

From commentary I've seen, which I can't verify personally, there are two versions of the Naudet footage. From what I understand, the "flash" does not appear in the second version.

To a certain extent, I can see the argument that an unscrupulous person could doctor footage to sell conspiracy theories. On the other hand, I fail to see the logic in assuming any footage which does not display certain anomalies is original. Not to mention that different camera angles will capture different aspects of the same event.

For example, how much of the available 9/11 footage includes the original soundtrack? There are literally thousands of eyewitness reports of hearing explosions, yet there isn't a single clip I've seen in which explosions may be heard. Consider also the speed of sound time lag. A camera set up 2 miles away, with a zoom lens, would not capture sound from the point of origin for approximately 10 seconds. A spectator could watch a building collapse, and shout "Holy blank!" four times, before the sound of the collapse reached him.

I think there's a point where one must make the best use of what evidence is available rather than lament the fact not all of it is up to Hollywood standards.
