In my life, it's the silence to this news by my fellow Dems that is louder than the petty, Kerry-like responses...

Thanks for this thread..as a life long Democrat/child activist/liberal raised in NY and living in Boston during my professional career..the Iraqi situation certainly brought my beliefs/philosophy under close scrutiny.I found myself supporting the war after much reflection/discernment..despite worshiping in a place that vehemently opposed the war, despised Bush..

Although as known by everyone by now..there have been missteps during the post-occupation(imo)..but I always believed that eventhough our personal interests were the primary reason for going in, that the Iraqi people would benefit from this act...as would the world in the long term

My opinions were met with anger, frustration by my closest friends('Bush is a baby killer', 'I want him assisinated'!..'how did you get brainwashed!"..strained many relationships when I made the decision to vote for Bush..nobody in my world voted for him..

I found myself having to censor myself in many situations, learning to restrain myself in reacting to all the hate Bush emails arriving in my email box on a daily basis even after the election..

Yesterday nor today have I received a single email..I was unable to call any of my dearest friends/colleagues to share the joy of watching the events of yesterday..the P/P thread was my main outlet..even my partner reluctantly submitted that Bush 'got it' on this one, but....

Long winded to say that Silence of some of the liberals is also quite a loud self-absorbed, twisted reaction to yesterday's history..

And most regrettably, my being censored in this 'free country'

Thanks again for the outlet!
