Perhaps you just have trouble distinguishing unsubstantiated assertions from facts. That you found someone else making the same assertion you're making does not substantiate anything. The only support he gives for his assertion that "Washington ... helped bring them to power" is the argument that followed, in which he made another assertion - i.e. that US attacks inside Cambodia had created the conditions of unrest that allowed Pol Pot to come to power. However tragic the outcome and however much you want it to be true, that is not complicity.
