Z, The stock market is not necessarily a good indicator of how the average person's doing.

Look at it this way. With a strong economy, you can argue for higher minimum wage, more benefits to union workers, or even (gasp!) higher taxes for the "rich," because you know the economy can support it.

Speaking of taxes, I have a feeling that Bush wants to try and raise federal revenues without "raising taxes," if you know what I mean. Getting rid of tax breaks such as the one Jim McMannis keeps bringing up is a good example.
