China fears Everest is shrinking

This is not the first time Everest's height has triggered arguments

A recent survey found the summit had dropped by 1.3 metres (4 ft) because of global warming.

Snowshoe, the glaciers in New Zealand are currently growing, not shrinking. They shrank for 10,000 years, but started downhill again a few years ago. Maybe there's an ice age coming. Or maybe it's all just natural trends and variation.
