Could it be that somebody is using the Nazi playbook?

"All you have to do is tell [the people] they are
being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for
lack of patriotism and exposing the country
to danger. It works the same in any country.

Of course people don’t want war. Why should
a poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a
war when the best thing he can get out of it is to
come back to his farm in one piece?

Guns will make us powerful;
butter will make us fat.

Education is dangerous - Every
educated person is a future enemy

Naturally the common people don't want war. . .
but after all it is the leaders of a country who
determine policy, and it is always a simple
matter to drag the people along. . .

Shoot first and ask questions later,
and don't worry, no matter what
happens, I will protect you.

Our movement took a grip on cowardly
Marxism and from it extracted the meaning
of socialism. It also took from the cowardly
middle-class parties their nationalism. Throwing
both into the cauldron of our way of life
there emerged, as clear as a crystal...

Voice or no voice, the people can always
be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That
is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they
are being attacked, and denounce the
pacifists for lack of patriotism and
exposing the country to danger."

Hermann Goering
