Well when the South was solidly Democratic there was a rather large (it's actually called "the great migration") migration of African Americans out of the South to regions of the country that were well, Republican. Now the South is solidly Republican, and there is now a net migration of African Americans to the South.

Why would one move their family, to the South, if it was more racist than the Midwest or Northeast? The answer, is one wouldn't.

re: "When I was young EVERY elected official including the SHERIFF was a Democrat. Not only was Segregation the LAW but it was BRUTALLY ENFORCED by DEMOCRATS."

When I moved to Ahoskie, N.C. a very, very tiny Southern town...I tried to register to vote Republican, but was told if I registered Republican, I couldn't vote.

I asked the woman if we were still in the US?!

She pointed out that there were no Republicans registered to vote there. The elections were always decided in the primaries, the democrat's primaries, so if I registered to vote Republican I couldn't vote in the democrats primary....

We've come a long way!!! Yea, we have!
