Asked by my US friends in CA prior to the election whom I would support, Kerry or Bush most people liked my reply:

"Pretty much like having to make a choice between Chirac or Schroder"

Fortunately my passport does not provide for the "privilege" of voting for any of the three.

But I never was close to the "Communists" (prior to 1956) or the "Socialists" (re-named after Hungary) or the "Liberals" (from 1990) or whatever the latest general denominator could be wherever they pop up in new disguise.
Have from time to time been accused of harboring "dangerously liberal" opinions though. Like being strongly against terminal punishment under any circumstances.
