"Election? We don't need no stinking election. We KNOW what all the Chinese think because we all think the same and this is what I think".

IMO, we don't need to force them to vote. If we leave them alone, they will have elections on their own.

There is very little chance they will have leaders that will not be popularly elected. It is not a matter of if, but rather of when - unless of course, their leaders can point to people who mindlessly hate their people. Then they could go around saying, "you see, you need us to protect you from people who hate you. If we have elections now, there may be chaos. People will try to come here and kill you".

All that aside - there is very little chance - with the Internet and all, that Chinese leaders can continue to rule for very much longer without some sort of national elections.

The more we leave them alone in this regard, the faster this will happen.
