They are severe but they do explain a great deal. ================= Social Security Losses Projected After 2020 From Times Wire Reports The Social Security system will take in more money annually than it pays out in benefits until 2020, two years later than earlier estimated, the Congressional Budget Office reported. The modest change is unlikely to alter the political debate over the program and President Bush's plan for its restructuring. Congress' budget analysts also estimated the program's trust funds would be depleted in 2052, "meaning that beneficiaries will be able to count on receiving only 78% of their scheduled benefits beginning then." ====== Of course, under the Bush monstrous-deficit plan, beneficiaries cannot count on anything other than a 40%-100% cut in benefits.
