JF, Straw man or not, the catch 22 is valid. Which says absolutely nothing about the viability of SS privatization, especially when compared to the viability of the alternatives. But hey, I thought you were all for SS privatization, or at least the partial privatization plan that Bush proposes. Maybe you're arguing against the notion that the $2T in transition costs will return $10T later, but Krugman makes no mention of this "nuance." Tenchusatsu
