I got my Radio Shack Model III up to 48K.

In retrospect the most ridiculous thing was the integral keyboard. Spill one drink into it and that was pretty much the end of the computer (didn't happen, happily). Also, program and data memory was a cassette recorder. Interminable misloads and defective saves of programs and data. And Radio Shack was trying to PREVENT anyone from writing programs for their computer. They wanted to sell all software!

I do remember being told, "Microsoft does all the operating systems." Microsoft? What was that? Some geeky guys in Seattle? Obviously a fly-by-night operation doomed for early extinction. Stock offering? Overpriced. Wouldn't touch it. <G>
