Though the sentiment is understandable, I'm not sure this crop of illegals is any worse than those of past generations...

They are different in that they are illegal. They are different in that they are flowing here by the millions on end and are not assimilating to anywhere near the degree of past immigrants. Since their numbers are so great, they need not assimilate. They are colonizing and significantly altering the culture - for the worst, especially since lawbreaking is the basis of their being here.

Most waves of immigration went through their "vermin job stealing" phases only to assimilate and curse the next group to be spotlighted.

Assimilation is not happening here because of the scale and rapidity of the crimes.

Agreed...but the reality of the times are such that even mild treatment of those who mean to physically destroy us provide wedges for those looking for any excuse to blame America....Financial penalties for being caught would help, collecting them with some efficiency is the trick.

I think the most important thing is to create an environment that is quite hostile to these people, since they are criminals. The idea is to disallow them comforts at America's expense. If they wish to be here against the law, then they should get not a single right and should they be exploited, it is the price they pay.

This, to me, is the biggest difference in immigration now compared to past generations.....With some form of public aid being almost a given, the need to scrap and fight for every inch gained is lacking.

Indeed. And the entire nation suffers.

I would prefer that the problem was solved through economic improvements...

Agreed, but we still cannot use the fact of crime to excuse our failure to embrace and defend our own laws, else the country is toast (I think it already is).
