Stalin was actually against the British during World War Two...until Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. I believe that the Non Aggression Pact that the Germans and Soviets signed was little different than the Non Aggression Pact the Japanese signed with the Germans (I believe the Japanese signed a Non Aggression Pact with the Soviets before WWII as well). So, during the first couple years of WWII, the Japanese, Germans and Soviets were budds. This changed when Hitler attacked his friend Stalin in June of 1941. The Soviets and Japanese remained friends till about 1945, when Stalin in turn attacked his friends the Japanese (after, I think, the Japanese asked the Soviets to approach the Americans about negotiating a surrender).
