Helms is a disaster. I am embarrassed that he comes from a State where I am a six month resident. He is so hated by liberals for his opposition to legislation that would benefit so many people.. I am thinking of the Cuban people who have been cut off from medical supplies because of Senators who will not do business with Castro. They expect that by cutting off goods that will help the people that the people will rise up and over throw Castro.. AND also it was important to curry favor with the Cuban vote..

There has never been a Secretary General from a large country. I don't think the rest of the world could hack that. But Clinton would do a great job in the post. Still, I think he should hold out for Pope. <G>
