We love Cold Comfort Farm- my kids are young- but my 15 year old likes it as much as I do, I think.

Indeed, a real bunch of characters in Cold Comfort Farm. But as well as it was acted, I felt like everyone was trying too hard. It did really highlight the grimy nature of English farm life, historically. But I didn't understand how such a well-brought up young girl could have so many weirdly poor relatives. That part did not seem historically plausible.
