But my whole point is why such hatred is fostered today, in other words nurtured and exploited, not how such hatred sprung up in the first place. Such hatred is a wonderful way for the Arab power-mongers to keep restricting freedoms and opportunities, then blame those problems on Israel and of course, America. The problem in this discussion is two fold......you keep moving the issue further along some arbitrary discussion line away from your original premise; that is, that a prosperous Iraq will not hate Israel. As I pointed out earlier, prosperity has not changed the attitude of the Saudis nor the Kuwaitis re. Israel. So why should it change the opinion of the Iraqis. Besides, the Israelis took out one of Iraq's nuclear generating plants.......I am sure the Iraqis have not forgotten. However, as a regional superpower, Israel commands a certain level of respect. The Saudis and Kuwaitis have no choice but to play nice. You also seem to want to insist that the Arab despots are keeping the hate Israel program on the front burner in an effort to keep their people from thinking about their own miserable lives. Do you really think the Egyptians, Syrians and Jordanians are that stupid? Israel is hated because they took over land that previously was occupied by Arabs and have prospered. In the meantime, they have denied the Palestinians a nation of their own. Whether the Arabs care about the Palestinians or not is a moot issue; the Palestinian injustice is enough to get the Arabs hot and to justify any actions they take against Israel. And its not just the gov'ts.......the man on the street hates Israel with a passion with or without provocation from his gov't. They probably hate their own gov'ts too but I'm sure they keep that issue in a separate compartment of their brains. ted
