I made a point yesterday of posting several lefty sources that were just as tickled for the Iraqis as anyone on the right. Right before that foreign report anthology you reacted to was a piece from a liberal blog and a column from Richard Cohen from the Post. I did that to try to provide the thread with a sense of what the left is saying to counteract all this hyperbole that had been attributed to the left.

No mentally healthy person could help but be happy for the Iraqis. That there are a few nut jobs that aren't does not surprise me. But sometimes I just get sick and tired of all this repeated overgeneralization and demonization. The left by and large is NOT against democracy for the Iraqis. You'd have to be as screwed up as the aforementioned nut jobs to not recognize the difference between them and the liberals.
