Agreed. Freedom is a state of mind. Voting is a symptom of freedom. Democracy requires institutions and people willing to die for those institutions and principles.

Something the Iraqis to date have not been willing to do. Stop trying to turn a sow's ear into silk. If Iraq is to turn, its up to the Iraqis.......either they will be up to the task or not. So far, its been not.

Again, I don't see why you think the golden egg should come from an event poorly planned and executed.

But just a symptom. And not always caused by freedom. That's why I'm comfortable and justified in remaining skeptical.
