where in you life or in history have you seen a positive from something so poorly planned and executed?

Many many times. In my life, as in most lives of humans, mistakes are a part of the game. Sometimes even huge mistakes are surmountable, if you don't give up. I have seen and made very large mistakes. Some of those mistakes resulted in failure and others were overcome to reach new heights of success. The difference was the person's attitude. If they never doubted the attainability of the end goal and never doubted their ability to achieve it, despite screwups, that person increased their probability of success a thousandfold.

The pessimist who dwells on the mistakes and gives up is the true failure. Once again, I am glad that we don't have people like you leading this country. We need people who can lay down a vision and pull out all the stops to make it happen. Now, as I've said before, Bush makes too many mistakes for my liking, but he makes it up with perseverance.

You think Iraq is doomed to failure, despite the unfolding evidence to the contrary. I think you are setting yourself up for a very public shallacking when you are proven wrong about Iraq. I've been around these thread since 1996. And as long as SI stays online, I'll be around. So you can be sure, I'm going to gloat to high heaven about just how wrong you were, when Iraq is acknowledged the world over for achieving its freedom and democracy. So keep digging your hole deeper. It'll be that much more fun to rib you about it later.
