Possibly it is because they are incapable of thinking for themselves, and assume that everyone else is the same way.

There does seem to be a lot of that going around.

The other day I read an item in which the author said...~"That's a role for the UN, it shouldn't be born by US taxpayers."

You pause for a moment ... And where does the money get it's money [resources] from? The members of the UN; either dues or what the UN can beg or borrow from donor countries. The resources provided are almost certainly going to reflect who has the discretionary resources to donate or loan. The US is going to be one of those donor countries; the US gets it's money from the US taxpayer.

Do you say something? Maybe, maybe not.

'AMERICAN IDOL' TOPS NETWORK COVERAGE FOR STATE OF UNION
Thu Feb 03 2005 10:36:24 ET

The U.S TV audience would rather watch freaks sing out of tune than President Bush and Democrats wax politics, overnight ratings show.

One hour of IDOL on one network pulled a higher ratings average than 2 hours of STATE OF THE UNION -- on three networks!

IDOL/FOX [8 PM ET]

17.9 RATING/26 SHARE

STATE OF THE UNION TOTAL BROADCAST NETWORK AVG [9-11 PM ET]

Imagine that, more people would rather watch the lamest most ridiculous show on TV than their president.
