And he framed the issue exactly correctly: as one of character and courage against self-delusion and cowardice.

And as if on cue, the democrats took on the role as the self-deluded cowards by booing when Bush recited the simple facts of the matter.

President Bush's speech was exciting and invigorating, but there is something he.....for the most part.....left out. He mentioned, if only very briefly, his desire to adopt environmentally sound solutions to our energy problems. If one weren't paying attention they'd have missed it.

But he chose not to speak to the broader issues.......water and air pollution. (forget the Kyoto treaty........imo the science isn't proven and it's a self serving treaty that would do more harm than good) What the president said in his speech last night has overwhelming appeal to most Americans, but I can't help but wonder if he ever gives the environment much thought beyond energy. And I bet there are allot of people worried about that.

I'm not one of them......it was my husband that pointed out that Bush had the opportunity in the very beginning of his speech to tackle these issues. It took him a few minutes to recover.
